Managing a team incorporates:

  • Managing the activities of clinical nursing staff.
  • Team members providing information to support clinical decision making.
  • Maintaining continuous quality improvement initiatives planning and development of action strategies e.g. MAC.
  • Responding to the changes in role which requires nurses to increase their skills in mentoring.



Demonstrate understanding of:

  • duty of care and associated responsibilities relevant to scope of practice – not just about medicines but about all care, and
  • importance of communicating right information to support clinical decision making.


Demonstrate ability to:

  • use team management skills - coordination
  • build communication strategies and practices within the team
  • structure the team and delegate responsibilities in accordance with resident needs, and
  • performance manage the team to achieve desired health outcomes for residents.
